living through Holy Week

Hi everyone,
Thank you so much for your emails. A special thanks to Talitha, the Swains, Lydia Y., and the John Rogers family for your continued support. Your gifts are filling some very special and sometimes very sad needs here. I am having a challenging and wonderful time.  My Spanish is still "meh"...but I am determined to start speaking full sentences more now that my vocabulary is building.

Last week was Holy Week and as in the US, it was a time for recreation and outings. The streets were full of shoppers and vendors preparing for the weekend. Stores then closed on Thursday and Friday and on Saturday all the street artist were at work. Streets were closed to traffic and people (Catholics) were laboriously, by hand, making these beautifully designed patterns on the street. They were using colored saw dust. I went back the next day to take more pictures and it was all swept up. That was a lot of work for one day. I guess it all has some special meaning but I haven't been able to find out what it all meant.
this is my favorite

My little mountain family had their baby.  We went to the hospital. I didn't like the heart tones and the Lord allowed just a little leak of fluid to show me some thick meconium. It was a long hard labor but she did it. The baby had some problems at first but now is fine. We asked God to lead us and let us know where we should be and he did. He is so faithful if we would just listen and obey. The maternity ward was packed that night. I guess everyone was waiting for after Holy Week because we had very few babies that week. Here are some pictures of the postpartum room and my little family. Also, I have probably been in this cafe long enough so I'll finish blogging in a few days. take care, Heather
Yes, you are seeing right...sometimes two to those little beds

that little box they are  about to put over the baby's head is free flow oxygen . He was a good size. I would have more pictures but they made me stop taking them for some reason
